Private biz: We could run Manhattan express line


A Brooklyn-based company has concluded that it would be able to run the Manhattan express line slated to be discontinued in June. TransportAzumah and has just sent me an analysis of the BxM4C line, saying it would be “difficult, but feasible” to make the service work as a private enterprise.

MTA Chief talks about proposed cuts


The home page of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority includes a short video of MTA Chief Executive Jay Walder talking about the transit giant’s financial woes. (The agency is $750 million in the hole.)

Acela gets Wi-Fi, free (for now)


Amtrak started Wi-Fi service on all Acela express trains from Washington D.C. to Boston starting today. The railroad will also offer the wireless internet service, AmtrakConnect, at the gate areas in six stations in major cities, including New York Penn Station.
