Remember the Green Lane crossing, where drivers kept following their Global Positioning Systems even as the hi-tech devices told them to turn onto Metro-North’s railroad tracks?
Well, as work continues to make the path across the tracks more visible, the northbound ramp of Exit 38 off the Saw Mill River Parkway will close for two weeks starting Monday, the state Department of Transportation announced. It will be closed from August 17 through August 31.
The state recommends the following detour:
1 – Take Saw Mill River Parkway Exit 37 (Kisco Avenue); make left onto Kisco
2 – Make left onto Preston Way
3 – Make left onto Route 117 (Bedford Road); follow to Green Lane.
With that, the state offers the following warnings:
Motorists are asked to use caution when traveling through the work area and pay particular attention to all traffic control devices, including work zone signs and flaggers. Motorists are also reminded that fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. In accordance with the Work Zone Safety Act of 2005, convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of the driver’s license.
