Life is art. Even on the subway

Life is art, someone famous once said. I can’t remember who it was, but no matter. Improv Everywhere, a group of performance artists who engage in surprise acts of “long form improvisation” (read: public stunts) decided to treat the 23rd Street subway station on the Eigth Avenue line as an art gallery recently.
Check it out and you’ll find a cellist, a coat rack, cocktails, and patrons standing around pretending to get the artworks — just like in a real gallery…
By the way, these are the same folks who pulled a stunt a year ago in Grand Central Terminal, where more than 200 people froze in place for five minutes minutes, then simply moved on as if nothing had happened.
