If you take the Henry Hudson Bridge into Manhattan, get ready for a new, but temporary traffic pattern starting Wednesday morning.
Workers will begin making the switch 9 p.m. Tuesday and it should be done for the morning rush.
Take special note of these instructions: Cash customers going to Manhattan should use left lane only toward Manhattan; E-ZPass customers should take right lanes only.
That’s from the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, which owns the bridge. Here’s the MTA’s whole release on the work:
SPECIAL TRAFFIC ADVISORY
Henry Hudson Bridge
Southbound to Manhattan
Traffic Pattern Shift — Overnight Work
Tues., 12/16 and Wed., 12/17: 9 PM – 5AM
To accommodate the next phase of deck reconstruction on the Henry Hudson Bridge’s Manhattan-bound lower level, a shift in traffic pattern will be implemented beginning at 9 PM, Tues., Dec. 16th until 5 AM, Wed., Dec. 17th. This work will be continued from 9 PM, Wed., Dec.17th until 5 AM, Thurs., Dec. 18th. Multiple lane closures on the bridge will be necessary as the traffic pattern shift (moving the work area from one lane to another) is put into place.
Closure of a southbound Henry Hudson parkway lane will also be required; however, one lane will remain open to Manhattan-bound traffic during the overnight hours.
Once implemented, this traffic lane pattern will remain in effect through fall 2009.
Please note: Cash customers going to Manhattan should use left lane only toward Manhattan; E-ZPass customers should take right lanes only.
Motorists are advised to expect delays or use an alternate route.
