Going Places

Covering the LoHud commute

If it looks like a trolley…

March

Here it is. That trolley that will be offering free rides around downtown New Rochelle tomorrow (Saturday) — here’s what it looks like.

It doesn’t have tracks or overhead wires, so really, you could say it’s just a fancy bus. But look at the styling…

And check out the interior, wooden seats and all…

…Do those details say “trolley” or what?

The piece of the past will roll through downtown about every hour from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., leaving from the headquarters of the Habitat for Humanity of Westchester, 524 Main St.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, it’s being provided by Jim Killoran, Habitat’s executive director, and some local businesses. The idea is to show off local businesses and restaurants, and to show a way of getting people around downtown without adding to the traffic that tends to snarl in the area.

If you like what you see, anyone is welcome to take a look — and a ride.

(Still no word, though, on whether it clangs.)
